As a reminder:
The French Intellectual Property Code, in paragraphs 2° and 3° of article L.122-5, authorises only "copies or reproductions that are strictly limited to the personal use of the copier, and not intended for collective use". In addition, the law provides that "analyses and short quotations justified by their critical, polemical, pedagogical scientific or informative nature" are allowed, on the condition that the name of the author and the source be mentioned. Thus any representation or reproduction, in full or in part, made without the consent of the author or his/her heirs, is illicit (article L.122-4).
Any representation or reproduction, by any process whatsoever, and notably by downloading or printing of hard copies, therefore constitutes counterfeiting and is punished by articles L.335-2 ff. of the French Intellectual Property Code.
Any violation of these provisions exposes the author of the infraction and all those responsible for such acts to penal and civil punishment as specified by law
